Juventas is looking for a multi-skilled, enthusiastic and dedicated Bank Transitions Support Advisor to provide support, guidance and key working to young people who may have limited English language skills on arrival, helping them navigate living successfully in a new country and preparing them for the next stage of their lives.

The role

Juventas cares for looked-after children in residential and semi-independent supported accommodation so they can live a positive and meaningful life as they approach adulthood.

We're now looking for a Bank Transitions Support Advisor to join our team in Norwich, Norfolk.

Reporting to one of two Team Managers, as Transitions Support Advisor you'll be:

  • Working on a flexible basis to provide cover for staff absence and holidays to meet the needs of the young people you are supportingT

  • To ensure all UASC are supported to attend legal appointments with regards to their immigration status;

  • To act as keyworker to young people, ensuring that all relevant young people's records are concise and kept up to date in line with Juventas policies;

  • To work to a Service Rota to help ensure each young person received 10 hours support per week

  • To lead on effective multi-agency liaison with Social Workers, Solicitors, The Home Office, Personal Advisers, GP's, Looked After Children Nurses, Education staff and voluntary agencies, parents and carers;

  • To assist in supporting the referral and move-on processes and responding appropriately to requests for the service, within the context of Juventas Service policies;

  • To organise and support structured activities consistent with young people gaining Independent Living skills;

  • To organise leisure activities as required in consultation with young people;

  • To respond and record any safeguarding issues in relation to young people in line with Juventas policies;

  • To participate in and contribute to their own regular Supervision sessions, annual appraisal and service performance targets;

  • To ensure their communications contribute to an effective staff team;

  • To assist in ensuring that building, plant, equipment and furniture is well maintained, cleaned and cared for with appropriate input from young people;

  • To liaise in a professional manner at all times with neighbours and the local community;

  • To ensure a timely response to any young people's concerns;

  • To participate in and contribute to regular staff meetings;

  • To ensure that young people's Risk Assessments are kept up to date;

  • To set high standards in respect to their own professional conduct and development.

The ideal candidate

You'll have:

  • A genuine interest in the welfare of the people you support and a belief in each person's potential and strengths

  • The ability to cope with challenging situations (with support from the rest of the team) and maintain clear professional boundaries

  • The ability to plan, prioritise and organise your own workload and time

  • Empathy, adaptability and flexibility in how you offer support

  • A compassionate, trustworthy and honest attitude

  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to obtain business insurance

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or willingness to study for this after probation is passed

  • A knowledge of childcare legislation

  • A knowledge of looked after children/young people

  • An understanding of adolescent development

  • An understanding of broader childcare legislation and policy
