Juventas is looking for a multi-skilled, enthusiastic and dedicated Transitions Support Advisor to provide support, guidance and key working to young people who may have limited English language skills on arrival, helping them navigate living successfully in a new country and preparing them for the next stage of their lives.
The role
Juventas cares for looked-after children in residential and semi-independent supported accommodation so they can live a positive and meaningful life as they approach adulthood.
We're now looking for a Transitions Support Advisor to join our team in Norwich, Norfolk
Reporting to one of two Team Managers, as Transitions Support Advisor you'll be:

Working on a flexible basis to provide cover for staff absence and holidays to meet the needs of the young people you are supporting

Part of a small, dedicated, passionate and inclusive team ensuring that all young people have their needs met, their welfare promoted at all times and that they are safeguarded from harm, abuse, neglect and exploitation

Ensuring that all UASC are supported to attend legal appointments with regards to their immigration status

Acting as a keyworker to young people, ensuring that all relevant young people's records are kept up to date

Liaising with social workers, solicitors, the Home Office, personal advisors, GPs, education staff, voluntary agencies, parents and carers

Organising and support structured activities consistent with young people gaining independent living skills

Organising leisure activities as required in consultation with young people.

Responding to and record any safeguarding issues in relation to young people in line with Juventas policies

Ensuring a timely response to any young people's concerns
-
Participating in and contributing to regular staff meetings
-
Ensuring that young people's risk assessments are kept up to date
-
Setting high standards in respect to your own professional conduct and development
The ideal candidate
You'll have:

The ability to cope with challenging situations (with support from the rest of the team) and maintain clear professional boundaries

The ability to plan, prioritise and organise your own workload and time

Empathy, adaptability and flexibility in how you offer support

A compassionate, trustworthy and honest attitude

Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to obtain business insurance

NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or willingness to study for this after probation is passed

A knowledge of childcare legislation

A knowledge of looked after children/young people

An understanding of adolescent development
-
An understanding of broader childcare legislation and policy
