The Role:
This is far more than just a support worker position - it's a chance to use your skills to empower others. You'll work closely with a range of others including family and specialist teachers, who all play their part in providing support to these two young adults which seeks to enhance their development and independence. Dad's first language is BSL so if you have experience in this, great. If not don't worry as we will provide full training.
Your shifts will involve:
- Facilitating learning and growth through structured activities, such as baking, arts and crafts and using technology like iPads.
- Encouraging independence and helping to support problem-solving day to day.
- Working in partnership with all concerned to provide consistent, holistic support that respects and values the family dynamic.
This role is ideal for someone who has experience in education, special needs teaching or therapeutic work with complex needs and who is now seeking a more personalised and impactful way to support individuals with autism.
We want to hear from you if you:
- Have experience in roles that involve supporting others, such as teaching, therapy or working with individuals with additional complex needs.
- Understand the importance of tailored, person-centred support and have a passion for enabling individuals to learn, grow and achieve.
- Can bring a professional, empathetic approach to working with young adults who are navigating their own challenges and milestones.
- Are adaptable, creative and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, particularly in close collaboration with a family.
- Have a valid driving licence and basic computer skills.
- Are excited to learn new skills, as part of this role you'll have the opportunity to engage with an exciting training package, including intensive interaction, PECs, TEACCH and British Sign Language as well as understanding Positive Behaviour Support.
- Can take a flexible approach to your work to accommodate shift patterns
