Job Overview
Meet Zack - a music-loving guy with a sharp sense of humour and an interest in reptiles. We're on the hunt for someone just as quick-witted and down-to-earth as he is, who can bring positive energy, patience, and creativity into his world.
Contract: Part time
Hours available: Either 11hrs or 22hrs per week
Closing date: 10/09/2025
Reference: CB/RI
Essentials for this role: You must be a driver, and you must be comfortable with supporting with personal hygiene and being around children. You must also be able to support at the gym and handle snakes.
Right, here's the deal. Zack's got a dark sense of humour - the kind that makes you laugh, then immediately question your moral compass. He thrives on banter, so if you're easily offended, you should probably not apply and instead settle for a nice safe puzzle book.
Your job? Help him stay active - gym sessions, moral support, and a confidence boost without morphing into a budget reality-show trainer. He plays wheelchair rugby (aka Murderball), grows plants, plays guitar, games, and watches a variety of shows and documentaries. He's also a reptile guy - the snake-owning kind, not the kind who joins suspicious Facebook groups - so you'll be helping to clean their habitat and handling them like it's no big deal.
Zack uses a wheelchair, has an acquired brain injury, and sometimes requires help with planning and needs a hand in the shower (calm down, it's a job, not a Channel 5 documentary). He's got a daughter, so you need to be good with kids - the kind of person who can be silly and playful without taking over. He wants someone supportive but not the sort of person who swoops in with a wet flannel every five seconds. Independence is the name of the game.
If you're energetic, can cope with snakes, and see challenges as opportunities, you'll fit right in. It's a lone working role with a 4-hour daily break while Zack does his own thing. The interview will test your creativity and problem-solving skills - so if your best idea comes from Googling "how to be interesting," brace yourself.
