Job Overview

We're now looking for an experienced Children's Home Manager to run our children's home in Chatteris and ensure positive outcomes to young people aged 10 to 18 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

The role

Juventas cares for looked-after children in residential and semi-independent supported accommodation so they can live a positive and meaningful life as they approach adulthood. As Children's Home Manager you'll be:

  • Providing a warm, nurturing and therapeutic environment for children and young people

  • Safeguarding children and young people

  • Supporting children and young people to live a positive and meaningful life

  • Playing a crucial part in supervising the management of the home to ensure a safe and nurturing environment so that our children will thrive and make positive progress

  • Driving the development of the home, ensure sustainable business continuity and manage a competent and proficient workforce that will focus on providing outstanding care to the children and young people we support

  • Leading a staff team to feel empowered and able the enjoy their work whilst supporting them to develop within their own roles

  • Actively involved with safer recruitment

  • Having a positive approach to multi-agency working and maintain close links with OFSTED, connected local authorities, health and education provisions

  • Working a service rota '24/7/365' including shift cover when necessary

The ideal candidate

You'll have:

  • An ability to relate to and communicate with children

  • An understanding of a child's development including physical and emotional needs

  • An ability to work with children who may have suffered past trauma and/or have significant attachment needs

  • And understanding of and commitment to reflective practice

  • An ability to contribute to a team approach to service delivery and problem solving

  • A significant understanding of safeguarding

  • Experience working within a similar environment and at a similar level

  • An enhanced DBS and references

  • A full UK driving licence

  • A level 5 qualification in Social Care or be willing to work towards this (with our full support)
