As a Service Leader you will be working with 4-5 teams towards building a life that makes sense for the people we support. You will need to inspire the teams to keep developing themselves and the person supported. You will need to have the knowledge to be able to implement management and leadership skills. We are working towards being a thinking organisation so we want someone who will self-reflect, have an excellent level of emotional intelligence and want to do the work to become the best version of themselves.
You will need to be confident and be able to challenge conventional support systems to make a real difference in people's lives. Integrity and honesty are crucial and are key values for the organisation and we expect everyone to promote the values of inclusion.
Good leadership skills are required. We are developing teams to be more self-led so any coaching and mentoring skills will be advantageous. We offer excellent ongoing training and support for this and other courses or areas of personal development.
You will be working collaboratively with the other Service Leaders and the central team, providing support to one another and using each other's skills. You will be expected to take on on-call responsibilities for the organisation which will include Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset. As we match staff to the people we support, you will need to spend time getting to know those we support so you can recruit the right team who will continue to help people supported to grow and live their best lives.
Main responsibilities:
- Oversee 4-5 support teams and team leaders
- Working in collaboration with people supported, families, professionals, teams and colleagues
- Facilitate meetings including 1-2-1's, team meetings, team development, debriefs, appraisals, professionals' meetings, and problem-solving meetings with teams
- Managing HR related processes, including performance and conduct matters, with fairness and professionalism
- Mentoring and coaching of teams and team leaders
- Keeping written work up to date and to a high standard and being creative with how you approach some work
- Monitor quality of support within each service which will include scheduled and unscheduled audits
- Sharing on-call responsibilities which may include emergency shift cover within the Southwest
- Attend daily meetings focused on the wider organisation
- Managing your own workload, prioritising effectively, and switching tasks when needed.
- Manage budgets, staffing levels, and resources effectively
- Recruit bespoke teams for the people supported
