About us

Next Steps provides bespoke care for vulnerable adults aged 18 to 65 in the North West.

Next Steps is a locked transitional mental health service for working-age adults. We provide gender-specific services within Greater Manchester. Next Steps has been part of local mental health services for over 6 years, accommodating up to 7 adults in five small, homely community houses across the Manchester and Bolton area; facilitating specialist, intensive and therapeutic services. We provide care and treatment for adults, aged 18-65 years, suffering from a wide range of mental health disorders.

"We support a resident who’s spent most of their life in mental health settings and they’re now as independent as they can be, accessing the community every day, meeting up with friends, he loves to be around people again."

Our Services

Where realistic, the rehabilitation programme is directed at increasing the character strengths, skills and knowledge of individual residents so that they can maximise their potential for greater independence.

Residential Services

We offer residential care in our purpose-built home in Bolton. Within the safety of our organisation, our goal is for each resident to feel valued and empowered. We support them to lead fulfilling lives whilst engaging in positive experiences and activities within our organisation and the wider community. We recognise that the transition from hospital to the community is one of the most challenging stages in any rehabilitative process. For those residents who do not require secure accommodation but still require a greater degree of support than is offered by most community placements, Next Steps may be considered a 'place of safety’.

Nursing Homes

We offer an alternative to traditional hospital life for people with chronic and treatment-resistant mental illnesses, by giving people who live with restrictions, the choice to live in a homely community setting. Our accommodation is provided in small local houses to enable a personalisation of care services which larger organisations are unable to provide. We make a positive difference to people's lives through the delivery of high-quality services in a therapeutic home environment. We encourage independence via planning in collaboration and realistic outcome-based care. We have three nursing homes in north and central Manchester.
