Job Overview

Alternative Provision Manager

Fareham/Full-Time

Sportfit Support Services is looking to appoint a manager to oversee our new Alternative Provision, The Loft, which is opening in West Street in Fareham in September 2025.

This is an exciting time to join Southampton's Sportfit Education (www.sportfiteducation.com): delivering packages of support to children, having expanded to multiple sites and with the registration of its first independent special school in April 2025

Working with children and young people from Key Stage 2 to Post-16, many of those who come to us have experienced challenging circumstances in their lives and have not always been able to cope with the demands of mainstream education. Our person-centred approach allows us to build strong relationships with learners and rebuild confidence in their own abilities. Although we have 'sport' in the company name, we provide a wide range of academic learning experiences for our students.

Teachers find our approach to work-life balance refreshing. Teaching assistants delight in taking up a role with greater pay and responsibility for students.

Salary £32,000 to £36,000 depending on experience.

What's in it for me?

With experience of working empathetically with young people, you will champion their aspirations and command high expectations to help disaffected or reluctant learners to have a positive fresh start in engagement with education.

You will work with an upbeat and forward-thinking set of colleagues who collaborate to design bespoke approaches for the broad range of young people we support.

You will be:

  • Leading a team of 5-10 staff as the centre develops over time.
  • Creating a positive and safe environment to motivate and inspire students and staff to flourish.
  • Teaching small groups of children or young people.
  • Ensuring compliance with reporting, attendance, health & safety and other procedures
  • Liaising with parents, schools, and other professionals in the ongoing delivery of support.
  • Supporting colleagues and students to overcome barriers to learning and related challenges.
  • Supported by senior leadership within the Education Team to grow into the role and identify opportunities for further advancement.

What we are looking for:

  • Previous experience of working in Education or supporting young people.
  • Minimum qualifications in Maths & English at Level 2. Degree desirable.
  • A methodical approach to organisation and self-managing priorities and tasks.
  • Motivational skills for individuals and small-groups of learners.
  • Strong command of English literacy, including the spoken word.
  • Full UK Driving license with access to a car and a willingness to secure business insurance.
